Kim and Glacy's Engagement Pictures

This past August I had the pleasure to take my good friends Kim and Glacy's Engagement pictures. The pictures were taken at the Wittemore-Robbins House in Arlington. It was a very lovely day as evident by the picture above.

All the pictures in this post were taken with a Nikon D5100, used in conjunction with a SB-600 Speed Light. I also used some extra lights to brighten up some of the areas of the house. Look below to see one of the setups we had that day.

The house provided us with an abundance of opportunities for picture taking. This area yielded a lot of good shots of Kim and Glacy so, it's fair to say that this set up may have been my favorite. The pictures to follow will have the technical details with them. Let me know what I did wrong, and how I can improve. I always appreciate constructive criticism. I welcome plain old mean criticism too, but what good would that do...

 (F-stop f/9, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 500, Focal Length 30mm)

Let's move on to another spot in the house. The next set up I enjoyed very much. The lay out was very symmetrical to me, with the sofas, the middle table, and the end tables.

(F-stop f/3.8, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 500, Focal Length 22mm)

Now that I see these pictures again I am upset that I did move the end table behind Kim towards the middle a little more.

The wallpaper in this house is... I'm not sure what it is, all I know is it fit nice as the backing to the pictures. I still hate wallpaper, but that's completely unrelated to aesthetics or picture taking, it has everything to do with removing it. We started at the top of the stairs and worked our way down in the next series of pictures.

 (F-stop f/4.5, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 500, Focal Length 28mm)

 (F-stop f/5.6, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 500, Focal Length 55mm)

We made our way to the downstairs area of the house and a couple of good shots. These next few pictures are some of my favorites.

 (F-stop f/4, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 800, Focal Length 24mm)

 (F-stop f/4.2, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 800, Focal Length 26mm)

 (F-stop f/3.5, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 800, Focal Length 18mm)

We took our session to the outside for the last set of pictures. The outside of the house is as nice as the inside. It was a gorgeous day out as well.

 (F-stop f/13, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 400, Focal Length 32mm)

 (F-stop f/11, Exposure Time 1/200 second, ISO 400, Focal Length 18mm)

(F-stop f/11, Exposure Time 1/125 second, ISO 400, Focal Length 18mm)

 (F-stop f/14, Exposure Time 1/80 second, ISO 400, Focal Length 22mm)

It was a great experience to shoot these photos with Kim and Glacy. The wedding was last night and it was a lovely time. I have looked at the pictures from the wedding and they are looking good. I am excited to share those with everyone.
